Birds at Red Rock

I took these with a brand new zoom lens while visiting Red Rocks State Park down in Nevada earlier this week.  I wish there were a greater of variety of birds to test it on, but I'm pleased with the overall results otherwise. These guys were waiting for the people to vacate the area around a spring so they could hop down for a drink. I found a spot where I could quietly watch and wait for them to feel comfortable coming down to the pool.

These were taken at the old Montana Territorial capital back in late September. My friend Rick was visiting from back east, so we decided to check it out and were glad to find that, though past the normal tourist season, plenty of the exhibits remained open.
