The Black Watch |
Just because Dr. John's Record Shelf is no more is no reason for me to stop providing access for you good readers of some other fine music-oriented radio shows or podcasts. So here is a link to The Big Takeover Show, hosted by Jack Rabid. I discovered this about three years ago (after being an avid reader of The Big Takeover magazine for about fifteen years-- it's been published for over 40). Jack Rabid is the editor of said magazine and hosts a first rate radio show to boot. I discovered a lot of the artists that I played on my show over the years from reading the reviews, articles and interviews in The Big Takeover, so there should be an easy transition from listening to my show to this one (though you may miss Art, Rico, the Top Fives, etc.). But as you can see from the list below, the music is always top drawer. Enjoy!
