Huntington Gardens

My travels last week took me down to the Huntington Library and Gardens, one of my favorite places to wander around.  This first set of pictures from my visit were taken in the Palm Orchard and Desert Garden (I'll post some from the other parts of the grounds in coming days).

My Favorite Song, Today

A Morning at the Beach

I was in Santa Monica last week and spent a couple hours down at the beach with my camera (not the Sony mentioned yesterday).  Unfortunately, either because I got there a little late or because the conditions weren't optimal, there were very few surfers out and they mostly appeared to be beginners; so I don't have anywhere near as many shots of them as taken on past visits.  But here are some of the photos I did take (and by the way, the two guys paddling out in the picture immediately below eventually disappeared over the horizon line and I did not see them again).

My Favorite Movie Scene, Today

Photos From the Strip

I recently spent an evening strolling along Las Vegas Boulevard testing my newest camera (a Sony point and shoot) that I specifically bought because the reviews praised its performance in low light situations.  I haven't quite mastered it yet. You have to scroll through menus to adjust almost everything, which is unwieldy. My previous little camera was a Pentax that provided more dedicated buttons for basic stuff like white balance and ISO (sadly that camera conked out on me a few months back, and the model has been discontinued).  Still, here are some of the early returns that suggest the Sony may live up to its billing.
