Silo City
For a long time, Buffalo served as a major distribution hub on the Great Lakes, especially for grain brought in from the Midwest. The waterfront was marked by numerous grain elevators, many of which fell out of use by the 1980s. After many years of abandonment, a number of these old grain depots clustered around the Buffalo River have recently served as the setting for a variety of arts events, and the venue has become known as Silo City. These pictures were taken there in the summer of 2014 during what has become an annual "City of Night" festival.

On the Street
Last night I watched a cool documentary about street photography in New York City called Everybody Street (it's on Netflix if you want to check it out). The filmmaker followed several current practitioners as they wandered around the city as well as providing examples of their notable predecessors. I'm not in the league of any of those artists, but it's gratifying to know they are motivated by some of the same impulses that cause me to want to snap pictures of everyday life. Here are some some of my recent efforts.

A Couple of Experiments
These two photos represent some experiments with layering images in Photoshop. I think they turned out okay, so I'll probably have some more examples posted over the next few weeks.

Puerta Del Sol
Today I'm sharing a bunch of photos taken in and around Puerto Del Sol in Madrid back in 2013. I was just trying to capture something of the energy in the plaza, which was quite active that full of people that day.
