Old Fort Niagara

I spent much of this afternoon at Old Fort Niagara. I set myself the challenge of focusing on evocative details rather than the "bigger" pictures, and these shots are some examples of what I came up with (well, aside from the above image, which kind of sets the scene).

Muckdogs Opener

I've taken a lot of photos at baseball games over the past few years, so for the home opener of the Batavia Muckdogs this year, I decided to play around a bit with my camera settings to see what might happen.  Not all of these are totally successful (lots of noise on several), but a worthwhile experiment nonetheless I think. The recurring theme seems to be "the slide."

Silo City

Went down to Silo City this evening for a poetry reading/musical performance.  Silo City is a great venue, comprised of a bunch of gigantic old grain elevators down on the shores of the Buffalo River.  Some enterprising folks have re-purposed the site to host a variety of arts events, including tonight's literary gathering.  Here are some photos taken of both the artists, and the site (with both its decrepit and revitalized elements).

Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls

A few days ago I posted some pictures of the band July Talk. They were actually opening for British rocker Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls (Ben Lloyd, Matt Nasir, Nigel Powell and Tarrant Anderson).  Here are some photos of the headliners, who were really great.
