For the twenty years that KDWG (RIP) was on the air, in addition to Dr. John’s Record Shelf, I also hosted a summer series called The Idiosyncratic History of Rock and Roll. Each program had a unifying theme that governed the playlist, and there were a total of 126 “chapters.”. I generally did not post these to this blog, as I did with the Record Shelf, but I did record them. So it occurred to me that these may be worth sharing here as well. However, I’m doing this a bit differently than the podcasts of the past—actually embedding the audio into the post so I don’t have to link to a third-party site (this should mean that the audio will remain available as long as the blog continues, whereas the links to podcasts typically expired after a few weeks). I’m going to start with the final two episodes this week and next, and if it seems worth continuing, I will then dip back further into the archives for future posts. Below, you will see the playlist for episode #125 entitled “2x20=40” (which will be explained in the audio). I hope you will give it a listen. [Note- the embedded audio file is rather large, and you may get a warning that Google cannot scan it for viruses, but I assure you it is clean, so click the button that says "play anyway" with confidence.]
