On the Street 8

More street photography, consisting of shots taken in Toronto and Buffalo this past summer.  I've mentioned before that my efforts in this genre are largely inspired by Garry Winogrand's work, but I've also been looking at pictures by Saul Leiter and Helen Levitt recently, and that's somewhat reflected in these selections.

An Experiment

For quite awhile I've been trying to figure out how to make my radio show accessible via the web, and I've finally gotten around to investigating these newfangled podcasts (yes I know they really aren't new, but I feel the need to establish my fogey credentials to justify why it's taken me so long to try this).  Anyway, I've set up what should be an appropriate account with the necessary service and posted my first podcast at this link. It's an old program, actually an edition of the Idiosyncratic History of Rock and Roll, as opposed to Dr. John's Record Shelf (only because I had a copy of it handy in mp3 format).  If this works, you can probably start looking for new programs appearing after next Sunday, with occasional older shows mixed in as well.  I hope you like the program!

Update: the link seems to work just fine, and the sound quality is pretty good.  You may need to establish an account with Podomatic (the service where the podcast is housed) in order to play the program, but it is a quick and easy process.  I have no idea why I waited so long to do this.

Sorry that posting has been light for the past few days, but I was out of town for awhile.  I should be back on my more or less regular schedule tomorrow.

Niagara Falls

A mini-album of photos taken this past summer in Niagara Falls. The difference from past postings of the Falls is that these were all taken on the Canadian side, after I strolled across the Rainbow Bridge.

What I Did Today

Some days you just want to get out and enjoy the outdoors (with a camera, of course).  Early this morning I headed over to the Big Hole Battlefield (a national park that is now thankfully reopened) to hike around and take some photos.  Here are a few samples of what I shot.

On the Street 7

These were taken while walking around downtown Seattle with my sister Liz back in August.  With a little luck, I'm hoping to be back for another visit (and more pictures) in the next few weeks.

A few more pictures taken on my summer visit to the Thousand Islands in northern New York State this past summer.  The first two are of the famous Boldt Castle.
