It's taken me awhile to figure out how to best use my new Sony camera. While I was disappointed in some of the early returns, yesterday I took it along on a trip to Bannack with my friends Nan, Lindy & Jim, and decided to paly around with the settings a bit. It turns out that it does a great job with black and white, as you can see from these selections (using the camera's built in filter, not converted to monotone in Photoshop).
