San Francisco 6 / On the Street 3
I wasn't sure how to headline this post, so I went with the dual title. These were all taken on the streets of San Francisco (sounds like a title of a movie or something, no?).

This Week's Top Five List
This is actually a classic Top Five that originally aired a few years ago on Dr. John's Record Shelf. It was repeated this past Sunday since Art Vandalay was a no-show and I sort of depend on his contributions to make the bit work. Anyway, this is one of my all-time favorites, and I hope if you've heard it before you'll enjoy hearing it again as well...

Thousand Islands 3
More shots from my visit to the Thousand Islands last July. These were all taken in and around the Boldt Castle, which is probably the most famous man-made feature in the area. Last time I was there in the mid-seventies, the place was falling down, but in the intervening years they've evidently done quite a bit of restoration work on both the building and the grounds.

Photo of the Day
Normally I'd post a picture I took, and not one where I'm the subject. But my sister Liz took this and I thought it would give her a kick on her birthday to see it again (especially the late, lamented Luna and Dudley). Happy birthday Lizzie!

Pictures From a Zoo
These were taken last month on my visit to the Seattle Zoo with Sara, Maria & Joseph. I doubt I'll ever become good at true wildlife photography, so it's great to get some nice animal shots when the subjects do not need to be stalked through the wild.

On the Street 2
Last spring I went to see the Garry Winogrand retrospective at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Winogrand was one of the great street photographers, and I can only hope to someday make a picture half as good as his best work. I certainly keep trying, and here are a few examples of my efforts (first two from Seattle, next two from San Francisco, and the last two from Madrid).
This Week's Top Five List
We're going way, way back for the topic of this week's Top Five List, which was broadcast last Sunday on Dr. John's Record Shelf:

A Morning in the Pioneers
I went for a ride along the scenic by-way that cuts through the Pioneer Mountains this morning, and made a few stops to take pictures. The day started overcast, as you can see above, but eventually the sun started poking out now and again. Here are some of the shots I took- I played around with a couple of these in Photoshop, which accounts for the somewhat Kodachrome-y effect.

San Francisco 4
More pictures taken on my trip to San Francisco last May, starting with one of the bridge (you know which one). The next two are of the Palace of Fine Arts, and the last three were shot in Golden Gate Park.
