This Week's Playlist

In the last installment of the Idiosyncratic History of Rock for this summer, the playlist consisted of artists who can be said to have a signature song-- one tune for which they are mostly known.  But instead of playing that signature tune, I played another hit from their repertoire.  I should stress that these are not one-hit-wonders, but performers with multiple hits.  It's just that when they are usually played on oldies radio, 9 times out of 10 you hear the one song most associated with them.   The list below includes the song played last night on the show, with the signature song in parentheses.  Next week Dr. John's Record Shelf returns for its 14th season on KDWG:
