Here is the first batch of photos taken on my recent trip to Spain. Above is the courtyard outside our first hotel in Madrid, where the sculpture portion of a big art show was installed. The hotel, the Husa Chamartin was right across from the main northern train station on the city
This couple appears to e taking a break from wandering around the exhibit-- the bird too I guess. We were killing time out there until boarding a train to head into the heart of the city...
... which is Puerto del Sol. These next four pictures were all taken in that lively spot more or less in the middle of Madrid's major shopping, civic, and tourist area. It is within walking distance of great museums, the Royal Palace, the biggest department stores, fancy hotels (moreso than the one we were staying at)and numerous small shops. It also seems to be a place where lots of folks just like to hang out. So I tried to capture a little bit of the atmosphere with these shots.
I'll get some more shots up tomorrow, chronicling the next part of our first day in Spain.
